Hi, I’m Nathalie Ouellet—a Canadian artist living in the UAE and painting my way through a world where animals dress better than most of us and carry more personality than they let on.
I create anthropomorphic art—portraits of animals as humans, full of life, texture, and stories. I paint because I love color (the bolder, the better) and because vintage clothing—with all its charm, patterns, and history—never goes out of style.
My goal?
To make people smile. To spark curiosity. To invite a second look.
Each character I paint carries a mood—proud, wise, sneaky, strong, soft, playful. I love exploring what it means to put a loyal, pure-hearted animal into a human situation and ask:
“What would they do, without ego or agenda?”
I honestly believe we don’t deserve animals. They give us affection, loyalty, and honesty with no strings attached—and I try to honor that in every painting.
Sometimes my work leans humorous, sometimes nostalgic. I draw from cultural symbols (a falcon in royal Emirati robes, a peacock in Thai silk), and always aim to capture something real in the pose, in the glance, in the way a scarf drapes just so.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you find a character here who makes you feel something—a little joy, a little reflection, or just the urge to imagine their backstory.
