Lola

Acrylic on canvas 24x24in

Abu Dhabi, April 2025

Lola was inspired by my younger son, and named after his real-life Holland Lop rabbit. When I asked him what colors and outfit he imagined for her, his response was clear—and instantly, she appeared in my mind, fully formed.

Painted Lola has personality to spare. Don’t let her soft fur fool you—she’s a boss. There’s something military in her bearing: focused, upright, no-nonsense. She might be small, but she commands the room like a general.

Creating her was a joy, especially because she came with a sense of collaboration. My son’s imagination shaped her form, and my brush gave her life.

Her outfit is part commander, part high-fashion matriarch. She wears structure well. Every detail was a study in contrast—delicate textures against strong presence.

To me, Lola is both fierce and affectionate. A guardian. A diva. A bunny with boundaries. And just like the real one, she’s unforgettable.
